Summer Learning Journey : Week 3 Up, Up and Away : Day 3 : Taking Flight

Hi bloggers, i have attended the summer learning journey 2018 - 2019. Here are my activity's.

Activity 1: Bird of the Year! [4 points] (To see the questions go on the summer learning journey site).
So i had to make a description about a bird. This was seriously hard as most of them were in serious trouble. But i chose to write about the  Banded Dotterel or in Maori Pohowera. Here's a little bit about the bird! The Banded Dotterel ( Pohowera ) lives in New Zealand's sea shores, estuaries and riverbeds. So the bird eats sand, shingles, shells and dirt.

Banded Dotterel (Pohowera)
This bird is in serious trouble! Vote for it to be bird of the year for 2019 now!

Activity 2: Flying Foxes [4 points]
Me personally i would love to have brain power that i can switch on and off. I would like this because i would really want to see how people think of me. And i think this will be good in use in case something bad happens and i would need to see what they would do.
Activity 3: Wind Beneath My Wings [10 points]
Wow did you now fish can fly! Well i sure didn't. If you want to learn more information about flying fish keep on reading.

Summer Learning Journey : Week 3 Up, Up and Away : Day 2: The Air Up There

Hi bloggers, i have attended the summer learning journey 2018 - 2019. Here are my activity's.

Activity 1: Bee Informed [4 points] (To see the questions go on the summer learning journey site).
So most people ignore bees. But for this activity i have fill in the missing sentences. About unbee-lievable facts about bees let get into it!
1. The word 'bumblebee' is a compound word ( bumble + bee ). The word 'bumble' means to buzz or drone.
2. Bumblebees can fly very quickly. They can reach ground speeds of 54 kilometres per hour (km/h).
3. Bumblebees are very strong! They carry up to 90% of their body weight in food with them to avoid starvation.
4. Bumblebees can do more work and carry more pollen than other bees, including honeybees. In fact they can do up to 50 times more work than honeybees.
5. The number of bumblebees is declining in New Zealand due to a number of factors, including the removal of wildflowers and flowering trees, habitat loss, and extensive use of pesticides.

Activity 2: Carbon Sinks Don’t Stink! [4 points]
For this activity i had to design my own sink and add disgusting foods. Here's what i would add.
1. Cucumbers, now please don't hate on me for this i am not a big fan of cucumbers when people ask me why my excuse is i'm allergic although i am not sure if that's possible.
2. Rotten banana, i hate the smell and the feeling.
3. Mouldy bread, the look and the smell really disgust me!
That is all comment down below what you think!

Activity 3: Flying Fungi [10 points]
Here is what i think.
So i think if i take the number of days and and multiple it by how many fungi s there are which give me my final answer 35 days and 5 weeks.

Summer Learning Journey : WEEK 3 Up, Up and Away : Day 1: A Heated Debate

Hi bloggers, i have attended the summer learning journey 2018 - 2019. Here are my activity's.

Activity 1: Togs or Trackies? [4 points] (To see the questions go on the summer learning journey site).
As you may probably know by now last year in 2017 2-3 million tourists came to visit New Zealand! For this activity i was asked to choose  the best time/season to visit New Zealand (NZ). Now keep in mind this was really hard...But i have made my decision. In my opinion i think that the best time to come visit NZ is in Autumn (fall) here's  why. First of all Autumn is a spectacular time of changes in colour. I think tourists will love this because it is a tragic nice view, with vivid russet browns and heaps of gold and red leaves. Also those on a self drive holiday if your travelling anywhere after Easter the roads and of other tourists. But that's just what i think comment what you think?

Activity 2: You are my Sunshine [4 points]
Here are 5 different ideas that i came up with myself on how to keep ourselves safe from the sun in Summer.
  • Seek shade meaning if you don't want to get sun burn't you should probably stay in the shade.
  • Protect your skin with clothing, you should do this if you don't want to get burn't.
  • Use sunscreen to protect your skin.
  • Wear a hat with a brim to avoid sun.
  • Protect your head and eyes.

Activity 3: Burning Up… [15 points]
Here is my answer.
