Summer Learning Journey : Week 1 A Place To Stand : Day 2 : Forest Life

Hi bloggers, i have attended the summer learning journey 2018 - 2019. Here are my activity's.

Activity 1: Giants Among Us [4 points] (To see the questions go on the summer learning journey site).
I would like to visit Tane Mahuta one day so that i can see how it is like is it growing or are there any damages or changes that need to be made.
I would not like to visit Tane Mahuta because it may have germs or tiny crawling bugs. And it is in a forest which is kind of creepy to me.

My final answer is yes i would love to visit Tane Mahuta because it could be a nice great  experience.

Activity 2: Fabulous Ferns [4 points]
Silver Ferns
Football Ferns
Black Ferns

I really liked all of the uniforms but... I love the silver ferns uniform as it is fashionable and comfortable. Can you guess which one is the silver fern uniform? Also i think the silver ferns uniform change a lot so this may or may not be their latest uniform.

Activity 3: Weird and Wonderful [10 points]
I worked this problem out by timing 365 by 3 which gave me 1095 ml
Thank You For Reading (Special Thanks To Summer Learning Journey Team Members).

  1. Malo e lelei Luseane,

Cia here from the Summer Learning Journey Ako Hiko team.

Woah! Three activities in one post, go you!

    Activity 1:
I really like that you talked about why you would and would not want to visit Tāne Mahuta. I can see that you knew there were pros (good things) and cons (not so good things) that made you want to visit or not. For me the pros outweigh the cons and even though I'm not too fond of bush bugs myself I'd still go to see Tāne Mahuta in all its mightiness! It's too good an opportunity to miss.

All in all, I am curious to know; would you go visit Tāne Mahuta or not?

    Activity 2:
Well done on listing those teams that rep ferns in their names. You have also organised the pictures to go along with them. I am curious about the Silver Ferns uniform, as it looks a little different from what I've seen lately..
Perhaps you could do a little digging to find out just how many uniforms they have and which is the latest.. Do you think they change their uniforms often?

Your opinion on your favourite uniform makes sense and is fair to your fashion sense, which is great. Who do you suppose designs their uniform? If you could change anything about the other two uniforms what would you do? Let me know in the comments below!

    Activity 3:
Oh! I see some good thinking took place, you have used a vertical algorithm to solve this problem. However your answer differs from the image you posted.. Which is it 1095 or 1.095? They are two very different answers.

Please edit your post to confirm your final answer so that I may award you full points for this third activity. And remember that the activity asks that you post your final answer in millilitres (ml).

It was a joy to read your post, keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing your edited post with your final answer.:)

    Toe feiloa'i fo'i,

    Cia.

  3. Hi Luseane,
Well done on finishing these three activities. I would like to visit Tane Mahuta one day because it would be a very interesting experience. Good job on finding three NZ sports teams that have ferns in there names. Finally, well done on using your math skills to work out how much water a cactus would need. Keep up the good work.
