Hi bloggers, i have attended the summer learning journey 2018 - 2019. Here are my activity's.

Activity 1: The Southern Lights [4 points] (To see the questions go on the summer learning journey site).
L - Lights
i - Incredible views
g - Great people
h - Happy people looking at the view (lights)
t - Tragic cries/laughter (happiness)
s - Super fun to watch

Activity 2: The Seven Sisters [4 points]
Once there was a man called Metai who lived in a village with his 7 brothers. Sadly Metai was the youngest brother but he didn't really mind. He had been raised by his  Koroua Te Whahara. Him and his brother were the most handsomest in the village. He could turn woman in to birds. One day they decided to go hunt for some food till suddenly they heard a sweet tone. They soon followed the voices to become beautiful woman with golden long hair. They looked like stars. They immediately fell in love! So they took the ladies back to their village. Metai warned the brothers but they were to blind to see what was happening!

The brothers were obsessed to obsessed that they even stopped eating wow! The wives grew skinnier and ugly. Metai was feeling suspicious  and hesitated. He soon found out they were birds! So he turned in to a bird to hear their plan of starving their husbands to death!? Metai convinced his brother to go and catch them  in a net but heaven fell in love too.

Activity 3: Crazy, Cool Clouds [5 points]
Picture 3
In this picture i can see big plump clouds that look like a moustache. It also looks really soft like cotton balls. It looks like something really soft.

  2. Talofa Luseane,

You have shared a nice poem about your time seeing the Southern Lights. Sounds like an intense (because of the tragic crying) but fun night. If I had the opportunity to go, I'd go see the Southern Lights with my family. I would take a couple of pictures, but I don't think they'd do the view any justice!

You have noted a lot of the main points of the story, however, are you certain it was the wives that grew skinny and ugly? Maybe double check that part of your retell... You are right, heaven did fall in love, so what happened in the end to the wives of Metai's brothers?

The picture with the unique cloud in the center does indeed look like a moustache, it actually reminds me of the monopoly game guy's moustache... You used some descriptive and detailed words to describe what you saw, ka pai.

Perhaps next time you could talk about whether you actually think clouds are soft like cotton balls. What do you think an actual cloud feels like? (If you think it could be felt at all...).

Feel free to tell me any of your thoughts about the questions I've asked, here in the comment section.

    Toe feiloa'i fo'i,

    Cia.

  3. Hi Luseane,
Well done on finishing these activities. I like your poem about the lights. I think that it is great. Also, I think that you did a good job retelling the story of Metai in your own words. His brother were very lucky that he managed to save them. Keep up the good work.
